I just completed my class and testing this afternoon. I am so relieved that I passed the test and am a licensed HAM operator at the entry level of Technical. I now have the opportunity to purchase my first handheld radio and get everything set up in my home. I can hardly wait until I get my new call sign from the FCC and equipment so that I can get on the air and start practicing.
I think that my Father would be proud of me. He was a HAM operator when I was a little girl and I remember listening to him doing CW and talking with people all over the world. I was always afraid of his radios, so I never did much with them and didn't try and learn much. I will have a long way till I will be as good as he was, but it will be fun to learn more as time passes.

Congrats from KKØHF in Kansas!
KKØHF, thank you for the congratulations. I am in the process of trying to determine what radio I should purchase to begin with. Any suggestions?
